Adoption Program & Services

Introduction

Reasons to be involved/ Finding God’s Will

The easiest way to understand Adoption is to view it as a scriptural common sense resource tool even though there are several levels of participation. The main principle is through Jesus, because of the acceptance of Him and His ways we have been adopted. If we are like Him, we are to represent Him and His ways and care as much about people as He does and be willing to adopt as He has to be like Him. The second principle is to do for others as they would for you. We all need prayer and we all have ups and downs in life. The point is how they are dealt with. If we pray for others, others pray for us. Adoption is two sided and involves love on both sides or does not work. Simply put if we move in love and unity to be closer to Him, we will begin to do the things He has done and sound like Him when we speak, because of the love for Him. Hopefully as we learn to walk with Him our love and commitment for Him and His ways will become more important than our ways of doing things. The second major point of all of this is that we, the body of Christ should be acting as one body and moving in love and through one body we can do all things through Christ. It is biblical but we all need to learn to stand in faith to accomplish the part where we can do all things through Christ.

Each of us has a part and plays an important role. We all like to think that we are doing enough from our standpoint, but what is important is trying to look at things from His standpoint to understand His ways in what He expects from us. Prayer is the cornerstone of adoption. In the adoption process it asks for us to make a commitment not to us or really anyone, except to God, to walk with Him closer than we have before and learn to walk with each other and learn to view each other as a family member, adopting one another as brother and sister. When we adopt we do so in love for Him and each other and we are loved. We all need love. When we go forward in love it also brings unity and agreement, which is the cornerstone of all faith. Scripture tells us that when we agree and touch anything, it will be done and the only way any of us can walk together is if we do agree, Amos 3:3.

The other concept is that we in doing this fulfill His will in the great commission all by love. The commitment can be as little as praying daily for others in need and of course others pray for you. Scripture tells us that the more we give, the more we receive, pressed down and shaken up. Most think of money when this scripture is viewed, but whatever we do to each other good or bad we do to Him and we as His people bring increase. We as the body have been given the keys to the kingdom of God to deal with all things and all needs on earth, but God does not force us to use them. That is our job. We are at a point in history were there are many earth quakes, storms, natural disasters and even wars. All of these things can be overcome if we all do our part and stand in faith against the work of the enemy, so this behooves us all to do something and move forward for our own preservation as well as helping others.

In His way and adoption all of this can get turned around. It does get turned around as we learn to seek Him and His ways, which means we turn from our way of doing things for His ways, II Chronicles 7:14 and in doing so it is His job to heal the land and deal with the problems, because that is our covenant promise with Him and He remembers all of His covenants, always. The only thing that can stop His will from being done and turning this all around is one of a couple of things. The first is apathy in not caring. The second thing is not understanding or not believing that God in His provision for us has given us the power to overcome all of this by the blood of the Lamb and the words of our testimony. And the final thing that can interfere is the belief that things are the way they should be. From a scriptural viewpoint to be saved we are to stand in faith to the very end. We either do stand in faith and do something about what is happening or choose not to do something. What say, “The problem is too big to overcome?” If we recall scripture once again Joshua and Caleb were the only ones that came back to Moses with a good report and they were the only ones and their families that did make it to the promised land. It was a lesson for us as much as it was for them.

So the first commitment we all need to make is to commit to God that we as individuals want to make it to the promised land and are willing to do what it takes to do so. That is not a commitment to us or ODB, but to God. The second commitment is to be willing to use the keys that He gave the body to overcome all of this by the blood of the Lamb and the words of our testimony to put a stop to the work of the enemy. It is what Jesus came to do and if we believe, what we are supposed to do. Evil can only prosper if God’s people do nothing. We should all do something for our own self-preservation and for the preservation of our loved ones.

Faith is much like a muscle. The more a muscle is used, the more it will grow. It is the same with faith, the more we walk in faith, even taking small steps at first, the more our faith will grow and after all, without faith it is impossible to please God. You should understand also that the ODB adoption program is not a program where we are over anyone, but rather what this is all about is for all to be equal in the eyes of God to seek Him and His ways and to walk in His covenant promises, which is the very definition of salvation, for now and later. All we ask you to do is for you to be led by His Spirit and for you to overcome by the blood of the lamb and the words of your testimony and to stand in faith until the end, for that is what makes any one of us sons of God.

Adoption and the process: The program covers a myriad of concepts and resources for churches and individuals who are at very different stages in the process of involvement with unreached peoples. We offer resources as varied as simply praying for an unreached people, to assistance for those who may wish to partner with others for field projects. It is our hope that this information will aid in a closer walk with Him, bring the body together in love and unity to accomplish His will and care for the lost and hurting and for the body to move as one body to use the keys that God has given the body to deal with what is happening all around us.

Keep your heart alert to God's Spirit as you venture forward. Someday soon, God will  hear new believers seeking Him and worshipping Him in a new language because of your decisions today.

There are many paths of involvement and commitment, each offering both potential blessings and pitfalls. As you proceed with selecting and adopting a people, you may want to seek experienced guidance along the way, especially at the outset and before attempting any field participation. If you are part of a denomination or have an established relationship with a mission agency, we suggest initial contact with them. You will find that adoption, faith and His will transcends any denominational boundary.

You will find that almost 2/3 of the people in the world have not heard of the Gospel in Jesus loving them or the body loving them. These "unreached peoples" reside is very different culturally and politically from that experienced by the typical Westerner. ODB can provide current information concerning realities of the field situation peculiar to the people of interest to you and information about partnership opportunities. We can also put you in touch with Christian workers in or near the people upon which you are focusing.

Further into this program, you will be asked to enter information that will be used to register your commitment to a particular people, if are already committed to prayer, adoption, or networking, please register with us. Registering your commitment will assist the missions community in knowing which peoples still need focus and makes it easier for you to communicate with others also focused on your people. Be assured that the information you share with us will not be used for solicitation of funds or sold to any fundraising organization.

We are responsible…..

When anyone, anywhere, reaches out for help, We want our hand always to be there. For that  we are responsible.

We are responsible both to God and each other.

"Together we can make a change, we can make a difference!"

"God gave us His Son, Spirit, Love, Direction, Purpose, Gifts, and free will. He gave us all the basic tools to either care for Him and others or care just for ourselves.

It is a choice either way, to either learn to work together to solve problems, but at the end, when it is all said and done, our true hearts will be exposed. We are given two things to do, love God and love our neighbor as ourselves.
