Duties of the Recipient

Primary Task:

Your primary task as a recipient of the is to contact a teacher at a local high school and arrange to give a presentation promoting the Department or Profession that they are interested in pursuing.

Getting the Grant the second quarter requires fulfillment of this task.

Steps to completing the task:

1. Contact someone at a high school or church and arrange a time and date for a presentation.

Warning: You may need to make several calls before your find someone willing to let you speak to his or her class or church.

Advice: Your contact person may be in school administration or pastor or may even teach a course that is linked to the career you are pursuing.

1. Create your presentation.

  1. Contact your Bible Institute advisor for a practice presentation (usually by email).
  2. Give a practice presentation to your advisor. Get their feedback and rewrite your presentation.
  3. Give your presentation on the time and date arranged with your contact.
  4. Write a report about your presentation.
  5. Turn in your report to the teachers in charge of the grant before finals week.
  6. In addition, you will be required to get feed back from three of you listeners you are giving your oral presentation to.

GRANT PRESENTATION

Directions for creating the presentation and presentation report.

Presentation:

Should have the following qualities:

Ø Be 15-20 minutes long.

Ø Be a sales speech for the Bible Institute and field of study you are pursuing (later as you get closer to graduation you will be doing the same thing to raise funds to help you start in you ministry).

Ø Contain information on all the programs and why they are useful and/or interesting.

Ø Be appropriate for the age and interests of your audience.

Presentation Report

Should give the following information:

Ø Name of contact person

Ø Time and place of presentation

Ø Number of people in the audience

Ø An analysis of whether or not the audience seemed interested in enrolling in the Bible Institute.
