Association of Pastoral Counselors

 

Purpose & Mission Statement

The mission of ODB, Association of Pastoral Counselors is to promote public confidence and trust in the Pastoral Counseling profession and to support the membership through representation and training. To care for the clients we serve body, soul, and spirit. To help clients with their needs and help lead clients into a closer walk with God, as He is the center of Pastoral Counseling and should be the center of all things. To help each client find God’s will in his or her lives, purpose, and direction. To encourage, exhort, and intercede.

Value #1: Caring for Self and Others

Belief in the worth and dignity of the individual and caring for self and others.

Value #2: Promoting Ethical Practice

Commitment to promoting and ensuring adherence to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice of the ODB, Association of Pastoral Counselors.

Recognition of the importance of respecting and encouraging different perspectives and valuing the contributions of all cultures, groups, and individuals.

Value #4: Encouraging Positive Change

Beliefs that change in people, organizations, institutions and society can be facilitated in a positive manner.

Commitments to the importance of having a close walk with God and increasing the knowledge base on which professional practice is based.
