"I will Remember My Covenant." Mark 11:22b-24; 22b) Have faith in God. 23) For assuredly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, Be removed and be cast into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will come to pass, he will have whatever he says. 24) Therefore I say unto you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you will receive them, and you will have them. This scripture is probably one of the most read, but least understood scriptures I have ever seen or heard. This scripture is true, but lets put it in its proper context to see what it is really talking about. In scripture it is written that faith cometh by hearing, and hearing cometh from the Word of God. At times in a person's life God will talk with you in one of three different voices, 1. A clear, loud audible voice that sounds as if it is outside of your head, 2. An inner voice that is still loud, but unmistakable, or 3. A small quiet voice that a person needs to concentrate to hear. It is by hearing this voice that faith comes. Faith can also come from reading His Word, of which times a person is moved, or not. Either way God will stand by His Word and in print or spoken He holds His Word even above himself. The first thing to do is look at who the words were spoken to. The disciples were the target and we as followers are disciples. It was not just to the original disciples Jesus was talking to, but there are a couple of qualifications to receiving. The first qualification is spoken about in verse 25-26, which is forgiveness. If we forgive, the Father will forgive us. One of the things that make people sick is stress and unforgiveness. This bitterness can cause all sorts of problems such as stress, anger, High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Strokes, Heart Disease and Cancer to name a few. You can pray and ask God to heal you till the cows come home, but if your sickness is because of unforgiveness you will never be healed. The next qualification to this verse is that a person will speak, but what comes out of his or her mouth will be from the heart. What this means is that the God of your life will be evident by the words you speak. If you dwell on the things of God, the things of God will come out of your mouth. If money is your God or anything less than God or if you are sharing your heart with God with something else, you will negate this scripture. An example of this is people have a tendency to talk about what they have instead of what God told them to talk about. Have you ever heard anyone say they have caught a cold or the flu? In fact you can listen to the TV and they will even talk about your flu that you do not even have yet. Why is this important? If you accept their statement that you will get the flu, you will. It is called self-fulfilled prophecy and works with believers and none believers the same. When a person accepts he Word of God as the very foundation of their being, something happens, they start acting and sounding the way Jesus would sound. They sound like people of faith. When a person of faith says something, believes and does not doubt they will get what they speak, good or bad. You noticed the good or bad? You can talk yourself into riches or poverty, sickness or health, defeat or happiness; it is all your choice. God gave us this ability out of love so we could take care of ourselves. Satan the twister of the Word takes it and makes it into a negative by telling people that they must speak the truth or what they see. The Word is not telling us to do that, it says, whatever we say, believe and do not doubt we will have. When a person is a true believer they will be constantly seeking the Lord for guidance and direction in their life. In Proverbs Chapter 3, we are told to trust in the Lord with all of our hearts and lean not unto our own understanding, but in all of our ways, desires, wants, needs everything, acknowledge Him, give it to Him everything including good and bad things, and He will direct your path. Out of love God wants us to be happy and have a full life. He wants us to have life, and have life more abundantly. He does not want us to be losers or sick or hurt. It has been said that it is a privilege to be sick as we honor God, it is His will? Some believe that to this day, but few know were that came from. In the fifth century there was a pope in the church that did not have the gift of healing so he told people that it was a honor that God chose them to suffer. This sort of distorted thinking happens more than you would think. We are also told to seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you. Are all of these words and just that, and find out they for some reason do not work? Or did God really give us a power that is almost too big to grasp? We are to be sons of God, and do the things that Jesus did and greater, if we only will believe and step out in faith. Do it! There are over 133 promises that we can have with proper confession and belief. Start speaking faith words, as you do your own faith will grow and then you will begin to live in line with the Word of God. By doing this you will have His power. Faith Part 2 Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Today more than any other time we have need to hear the voice of God to lead the church, but unfortunately most of the church is not seeking God or His Word for everyday direction! Many preach today that faith comes by the one who preaches, but in actuality faith comes by the Holy Spirit. It is the work of the Holy Spirit, as we seek the face of God, that speaks to us individually. This is one of those scriptures that has been taken out of context for many years. Lets set the record straight. When Paul wrote this he had no knowledge that a book called the Bible would some day be printed. In Paul's time he either wrote a letter to a particular church or had a scribe write the letter. This was common in his time. In our time we have taken the Bible and although it is true that it is the Word of God, it is also true that Jesus was then the Word as it is outlined in John chapter 1. By reading the Bible as the Word of God, one could easily assume that God stopped talking almost 2,000 years ago. I submit that this is a teaching that is in error. It is not that God stopped talking, but perhaps we stopped listening. Perhaps today we have replaced God's daily leading with traditional teachings. Teachings that although may be well intentioned, may miss the mark Folks, let me be frank! Has God talked with you lately? If not, why? There is still time to ask the question. Believe me, if you ask the Holy Spirit to with you as you seek God's face and His direction for you in your life, He will speak to you. Don't think so try it! God is gracious and is willing to meet us half way if we reach out to Him in truth and in spirit. This is a subject that is so important, it could mean the difference between life and death, heaven or hell! One of the things that Jesus gave us was the Lord's prayer. If you recall Jesus was asked 'How to pray.' He told the disciples to pray after this manner, "Our Father who art in Heaven hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread..." Most everyone can recite the prayer, but have we sought God on what it means? Fist we are given an idea of the will of God. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. This tells us that is God's will that there be no sorrow, sickness, disease and death. If there were such things in Heaven it would not be a place that I would want to go. No the things that happen here are not God's will, and we are given a clue how to make it God's will. The phrase, "Give us this day our daily bread," also gives us insight to God's will as our daily bread is Jesus and our daily bread is His ministry to us. He wants us to come to Him for all things, and for direction in our life. As confirmation of this we are given Proverbs 3:5-8 where it tells us to, trust in the Lord with all of heart and lean not unto our own understanding, in all of our ways we are to acknowledge Him and He will direct our path. By reading further we make a startling discovery when it tells us that His Word will be health to our bones. The Bible was given to us so that we would know that it was God speaking to us, as that still voice in us will never be out of line with His written Word, and if it is our of line we know that it is not of God. By reading the Bible as we seek God and His truth some of the scripture will actually seem to jump out to us, as it would seem that it was written specifically for us. Perhaps next time that we are at church, we should all be seeking God both individually and corporately as the body for His will for us for the next week. Perhaps if we all did this the world would be different. Maybe that is what was originally intended for us in church.
" God gave us His Son, Spirit, Love, Direction, Purpose, Gifts, and free will. He gave us all the basic tools to either care for Him and others or care just for ourselves.
It is a choice either way, to either learn to work together to solve problems, but at the end, when it is all said and done, our true hearts will be exposed. We are given two things to do, love God and love our neighbor as ourselves. |
