The Profession Top What is the profession of the minister and the ministry? There are a number of complex definitions of the ministry, but simply put, it is a profession devoted to helping people in need, spiritually, emotionally, and physically as well as they can in their environment. It ranges from being a past or of a church or being counselor, chaplain, or another part of the ministry. In our complex, ever changing society and world, the missionary may be called to work here or abroad, as the work involves people to better help themselves through Christ and help remove the bondage caused from hurts and sin. Many of the people that we serve need very little help and grasp things well, some need a lot of work and it can be slow. The profession is often miss-understood as all believers are called in one form or other and should be prepared to help those in need. First John 3:8 tells us that Jesus was sent in the flesh to destroy the works of the devil. He did this working to establish the Kingdom of God here, and we through his authority have been given the keys to the kingdom, and His power, the power of God to get the job done. If it is true that we have been given the power of God, then the question should be asked,’ Why is the world in the shape that it is in?' The first answer to this is that the believer not understanding who we are in Christ, the power, the anointing, the responsibility and accountability. The second reason is that people are taught from birth that we need to go to the world for money. Satan of course controls the world, as he is god of this world. The third reason is that there is a lack of good education in the gifts and anointing as well as a lack of people dedicated to serving others. It is stated that only five percent of the people going to church are in fact doing 95% of the work! And that work is not enough to take care of the whole. The missionary engages as a part of a professional team to help people in some of the following settings churches, counseling, family agencies, child welfare programs, prison ministries, adult foster care, hospitals, probation and parole, drug and alcohol treatment, youth centers, crisis intervention, etc. Some in the profession work intensely with families and individuals, while others work in-groups, organizations, neighborhoods or whole communities. Some of these missionaries work in disaster relief, or are just in prayer. Some are concerned with the increase in the crime rate, while others are concerned with the increase in child abuse. Others may be interested in managing fellowship houses or working with individual churches as a part of an outreach or even in a healing ministry. The work of a missionary has been defined as first an Ambassador for Christ, representing the Kingdom of God on earth as they are involved with and engaged in helping individuals, families, groups and communities to enhance or restore their capacity to function, while working to create conditions favorable to that goal. The work is to follow the life of Christ and do the things that He did. The missionary will put into words what Jesus did and what it means doing what he did and showing others how He did them. The work of a missionary is very demanding. The missionary must be mature, (spiritually and emotionally), and capable with coping with job related stress. The other thing that is required of a missionary is a high level of skill in communications (i.e., reading, writing, and speaking).

"Together we can make a change, we can make a difference!"
" God gave us His Son, Spirit, Love, Direction, Purpose, Gifts, and free will. He gave us all the basic tools to either care for Him and others or care just for ourselves.
It
is a choice either way, to either learn to work together to solve
problems, but at the end, when it is all said and done, our true hearts
will be exposed. We are given two things to do, love God and love our
neighbor as ourselves. |
