"I will Remember My Covenant." On occasion on the radio or in the newspaper you might hear a story about person that was elderly, who was sick and died that kept all of His worldly wealth in a mattress as it was stuffed with money. Either that or people who go in and clean up find money hidden somewhere in the house. Oh course the thought that comes to mind is that it was a waste and a tragedy what this person did. When people from the church hear this sort of thing the usual comment is made, that Satan really had a hold of them! Today we see many Christians not living in a victorious life as they are afraid to ask for what is theirs. This is the same situation as with the bed full of money as we have the power of God with us. God delights when we go to Him in faith and has always been a rewarder of faith. Money is a resource for us to us in the world as is the Holy Spirit to the believer, but most Christians today do not even know who we are in Christ and what our inheritance is and what the promises are. The sad thing is that the Holy Spirit is available to all who are believers, but most do not know how to call upon Him or ask to for help. Many people think that the things that happen today are God’s 'will' as there seems to be no answer available. It seems that people do not know how to say that they do not understand what is happening, so they say that it is God’s will. People are dying of cancer, AIDS, starvation and a host of other things and people are saying that is God’s will instead of dealing with the problem through the power of the Holy Spirit. The body has learned to tolerate these things to the point where these things are now up to the steps of the church doors. We find in Ephesians 4:11-16 where Paul is writing to the church that God provided the gifts and the five fold gift ministry so that the body would be strong, and not thrown to the winds of strange doctrines. He gave us the example of the perfect body and how to get it. Christ did not only pay the price for us on the cross for our sins, but also wants us to live in good health and to prosper. He wants to supply us with our needs and our health as a result of faith. What does happen all to often is that we give up and just accept what we get instead of living by faith as we are commanded to do. There was once an Oklahoma farmer that was down on his luck and prayed as he needed a miracle to save the farm. This farmer waited and waited, and finally sold out for next to nothing as be almost lost everything. He blamed God for everything. The sad part is that the man who bought the farmer out drilled for oil and found it. This field contained the richest oil field in many miles. That field became the beginning of Getty Oil Company. The Bible tells us in Mark 11:23-24 that if we say, believe, and do not doubt we will receive, but most are satisfied with what they get, as they believe that it is His will in their lives. God is God, and owns everything, we as believers have been elevated up to the place of son ship to the richest of all Kings, but it is up to us to accept His Word and stand on it if it were 'the Gospel.' What does it mean to be filled? First there is the baptism of the Holy Spirit which gives us the power of the Spirit as it is the same Spirit that Jesus had. it is the same Spirit that gives life, breaks bondage, and sets the captives free. It is the same Spirit who heals, protects, guides, teaches and leads into all truth. We receive the Spirit by faith asking and receiving as it is a Gift of God. The other way to receive is for someone who is filled and or anointed, to lay hands on you and pass the Holy Spirit to you. The Spirit of God was given to Jesus in His fullness as Jesus took on the sin and the problems of the world. Jesus was accountable and reached out to those in need. Today God wants to do the same for us as we reach out to a hurting world. Why should we be filled? The reason we should be filled with the Spirit of God is, first God commands it. We are told to filled with the Spirit in Ephesians 5:17-18. Secondly we do not wrestle with just the flesh but the powers of Satan ,and the only way to win is to be filled in the Spirit (Ephesians 6:12). Third, the Holy Spirit gives us the power to reach out to others and the strength (Acts 1:8). Fourth with the Spirit we are to have life and have it more abundantly (II Corinthians 2:9,lOa). Fifth it is the purpose of the Holy Spirit to bring us closer to God (II Corinthians 3:18). God wants to supply us with all of our needs. He wants to have a personal relationship with all people. He wants no one to do with out or to perish, but the choice is ours and it is up to us to stand in faith, filled with the Spirit of God.
" God gave us His Son, Spirit, Love, Direction, Purpose, Gifts, and free will. He gave us all the basic tools to either care for Him and others or care just for ourselves.
It is a choice either way, to either learn to work together to solve problems, but at the end, when it is all said and done, our true hearts will be exposed. We are given two things to do, love God and love our neighbor as ourselves. |
